Sacramento Cactus & Succulent Society Show & Sale 2014

This year's show and sale here in Sacramento is sure to be a good one.  I was there during setup yesterday and oh boy there is so much to see and buy.  Sure hope you can attend.  If you can't go today don't worry it will be going strong tomorrow and I will be there!

I have a planting of my Mother's Day basket entered this year in the Planter competition and I was asked to put together one of the 5 large shadow boxes.  Boy that was a job!  The box is huge.  And I wandered around Joanne's for a couple of hours to find things I could put inside.  The theme is Succulent Samba!  lol  Boy and the competition is fierce!  The others did such a great job.  This one is voted on my people coming in the door.  So you never know!

So now it is Saturday night and I found out I came in 2nd!  That is great!

This is the first place winner.  Awesome huh!  Here are the rest!

This was really a fun thing to do!  Congratulations to all!  Now let's check out some cool plants!

This fat one is Fockra edulis!

Eulychnia costanea monstrose

Mammillaria Bocasana 'Fred'

Mammillaria dawei

Schizobasis intricata

In the center is Ceraria namaquensis.  Lots of help was needed to make things look just right!

Our President Keith Taylor was busy at work getting things organized.

This is one of my favorites.  A beautiful Euphorbia inermis!

Wow lovin this Crassula barklyi

Lots of great plants to see so come on down!

Lots and Lots of plants to Buy!!!!

Lots of great wall pockets made by Donna Taylor of Melted Bottle!  Plus more as you can see in the next couple of photos!

Cut and melted bottles!

And lots of these cool rusted wall planters for sale!  They look incredible filled with succulents!

So if you haven't done so already make your way down to McKinley Park in Sacramento, CA and check out this annual Show and Sale.  You won't want to leave empty handed.

Oh and tomorrow I have a potting demo at 1:00 p.m.  So I hope to see you!

It's Another Beautiful Day!

Wow, those themed shadow boxes were awesome! I don't think any one judge could have narrowed it down to a single winner so "popular" vote was the way to go.Congrats on your 2nd place. I love the happy festive feel of your colorful composition.
