Every year when I am back in Oceanside, CA I always have to go and visit what I call the Succulent Beach House. We rent a condo at the end of a street that runs horizontal with the beach called The Strand. Every year I make a point to check it out and see what kind of changes the owners have made. This year I was very fortunate to meet the owners of this succulent paradise. There names are Jim & Jo (did not get the last name). And when Jo found out I loved succulents as much as she did I was given a tour.
Doesn't this look like an underwater scene all crammed in one pot?
Jim and Jo live just steps away from the ocean so they wanted their garden to duplicate what it looks like under the water.
This is part of the front left of the flower bed. I would have taken a photo of the whole front but they had this great big huge For Rent sign stuck in the ground.
More of the front planter! The Ocean air and lower evening temperatures give these succulents their beautiful colors.
Cotyledon orbiculata 'Silver Waves'
Doesn't this look like something you might see in the Ocean? Love the red edges!
Aloe Distans
This is a view from their blue steps at the front door looking to the left. That Senecio vitalis is so thick and full. This is the largest succulent bed.
Here you go looking to the right!
This is the right side of the beach house. And yes those aeoniums were really that red!
Had to show you this great succulent. It's called Euphorbia polygona 'Snowflake'
The aeonium corner.
Senecio vitalis on left Aloe striata (i think) on right
Isn't this Crassula 'Campfire' amazing! Love that color!
I was invited into their back patio for a look at other succulent displays!
Euphorbia caput-medusae
Isn't this amazing! Here is a close up shot!
Cresting Madagascar palm
I bet they gathered this sea glass themselves.
Thank you Jim and Joe for letting us visit your beautiful ocean side garden. I appreciate your kindness and your garden is truly beautiful. Can't wait to visit again next year!
I hope everyone is enjoying the slight change of weather and season! This next week I am headed to the Succulent Extravaganza at the Succulent Gardens in Castroville, CA. Can't wait and I will be reporting all about it and what I bring home!
Until then remember:
It's Another Beautiful Day!
