Hibernating succulents and a rat!

Hibernation

My succulents are still in the garage and doing ok. When ever we have a sunny day (like this one) I open the doors and I swear I can hear them go Ahhh! So I noticed that some of the plants have some shriveling in there leaves. A sign of lack of water. I have not watered them since I put them in here. So I went out and got the hose and started putting a bit of water in the pots that I thought needed it. I was busy doing my chore and since I have a lot of plants under the table I was bent over some other pots with my hose sprinkling away. My face was about 5 inches from a big pot right under me when I looked down at it. I thought to myself, "Is that one of Scout's dog toys in the pot?" And about a second later I jumped up as I realized NOOOO! This is what I saw!

Hibernating succulents and a rat!!!!

I definitely jumped about 3 feet in the air. This rat must have eaten some bait that we have in bait traps around the house. Yes we have problems with rats, ever since we moved in 15 years ago. So he must have gotten cold and climbed in this pot and hunkered down. Yuk! I waited for Stan to come home and had him get rid of it. Sure freaked me out!

Yeah...things are still alive!

Everybody have a great weekend coming up!

Wow, your succulents all look great! The rat, not so much.
At least he wasn't stinky.

:) The poor rat was cold and he found a cozy spot! Well, at least you got rid of one.

The succulents look great!

Ugh!! I had great fun with this one though. I read this last night and then told my oldest that I found a rat in the laundry room. She tentatively walked in and I jumped at her, which resulted in another jump from her and a squeal! It's a good thing you found him when you did too...ugh!! As always, your succulents are gorgeous!

Oh man, I would have flipped. This is one reason I don't use bait - the bodies can turn up just about anywhere.

The plants look good! Only a little bit longer to go, right?

So funny Mandy! I would have like to see that. LOL

And Red I know what you mean but we have so many around here that we have to try to stop them. They are fairly smart too. We had one last year that found a way in the house to eat bananas. It took us a week to trap that one! Ugh!

Oh yikes! I dislike rats and mice immensely but we often have to deal with them. I love your succulents and am now following your blog ;-)

A rat, nice. Yeah, we have a family of rats living between a couple of our houses. They keep the dogs entertained as they like to sniff them out...but the rats seem unphased.

Your succulents are looking fabulous and your sunshine looks pretty darn nice, too.

Okay...this post scared me more than the movie, Nightmare on Elm Street. lol

Sorry, I think your profile did show up on my page after all but not the comment you left. My apologies for cluttering up the comment box with these remarks but I don't see an email for you. I hope you can check out my posts on Nairobi :-) Enjoy your weekend

Love your succulents!. I just starting on growing my succulents and let's say I have been succed (sucked) in!!! I'm hooked on them and I'm even more impressed on how they are so easy to take care of and grow. Thanks for all the pretty photos.

Thanks for leaving a comment Tomeco. Succulents are easy aren't they. I am glad we have another succulent lover in the world. Thank you again!
