Punch-hole cloud formation

Punch cloud by Chuck Edwards

Yesterday in Roseville, CA we had a very strange cloud formation. Quite a few of my friends saw this and my good friend Chuck Edwards took this great picture of it. It is called a Punch-hole cloud. I googled it and saw some other pictures and videos of them forming. Very interesting!

Thought you might enjoy taking a look! Have a great Friday!

That's weird! Did that center cloud come down through the hole, or was it just passing by at a lower altitude?

Here's my weird cloud picture from a couple of years ago.

That whispy cloud in the middle on it's own. That is what happens with these kind of formations Cindy!

Hello, Sassy. Happy Monday to you. The Dragon Wing Begonia I featured on my last blog post, wants part sum to shade. Probably not a good choice for your garden.

That is the oddest cloud formation I've seen. We occasionally have big, rolling black thunderheads in the summer with a hole where two clouds don't quite meet, but nothing like your photo. As a child, we always called those blue sky holes "Jesus Holes" because we thought that Jesus was going to come down on a sunbeam from one of them. Kind of picked up that idea from an illustration in a book from Sunday School.

That is a good name for them. It does look like a hand reached down from above to snatch some clouds.
